Beerschot - RSC Anderlecht: 2-1

Beerschot added another nice chapter to its success story… after sweeping Anderlecht aside. Not with a pre-war scoreline this time. Two-one proved enough for Hernan Losada’s star studded team after yet another convincing team performance. Ismaily Coulibaly and Raphael Holzhauser scored the goals that keep us in the top three of the table. Impressive stuff!

Beerschot put the pressure on right from the start and created two good chances in first ten minutes. Coulibaly saw his shot saved by an Anderlecht defender, while Holzhauser curled the corresponding corner on the crossbar. Unlucky. Our “Mannekes” were the better team in the first half with two shots on target from Tissoudali. The visitors’ attacking input were two fast counters but both Nmecha and Tau were in an off side position and subsequently flagged down.

On the half hour Beerschot got what they deserved: a goal. With the signature of Ismaila Coulibaly on it. Our midfielder from Mali received the ball from Tissoudali on the edge of the penalty area and hammered it home… through the legs of Wellenreuther. Nice and neat combination, well put away.

Coach Hernan Losada was forced to change his team in two places after injuries of his wing backs Joren Dom and Pierre Bourdin. Van den Buijs and Halaimia were brought on.

An Anderlecht free kick ended a very enjoyable first half, with Sambi Lokonga‘s shot flying narrowly over the bar.

Only five minutes in the second half Beerschot doubled its advantage. From the penalty spot after Tissoudali was fouled in the box. Rapha Holzhauser stepped up for his tenth of the season, saw his shot parried by Wellenreuther but sweetly netted the rebound. Two-nil, Beerschot’s 8th victory looked in the making.

In the dying minutes Nmecha scored a good goal for Anderlecht… but Beerschot easily secured the three points.
