BEERSCHOT SIGNS GREEK CENRAL DEFENDER APOSTOLOS KONSTANTOPOULOS

Apostolos Konstantopoulos is Beerschot's latest newcomer. The 18 year old central defender from Greece's firsst division club Panetolikos signed a contract until June 2024, with an option for an extra season.

"I am proud we were able to convince Apostolos to choose for Beerschot as he is a talented player and was very popular on the international transfer market", Technical Manager Sander Van Praet says. "He is a quality defender, Greek youth international, strong in one on one situations and has flair in abundance. Despite lots of interest from Greek top clubs he decided to continue his career in Belgium. With us. He was smitten by our project and the fact that young players get the opportunity to make the grade in Beerschot's first team. Just like Stipe Radic and Ismaila Coulibaly both did last season."

Konstantopoulos - his nickname is 'Tolis' - was ever present at Panetolikos' defense in the Greek Super League last season and also won two caps for Greece's U21 squad.

Vice chairman Walter Damen is already in awe of Beerschot's new acquisition. "Once again we invest in a young, talented and promising player. At the same time we are proud these youngsters opt for our club. We are trying to compile a squad with a perfect balance between experienced players and talented youngsters. So creating a perfect seting for the youngsters to develop further in addition  to a incessant cross-pollination that makes everyone better."
