DEFEAT FOR BEERSCHOT IN SECOND FRIENDLY IN GERMANY

On the last day of the training camp in Kamen (Germany) Beerschot suffered a first defeat in their pre season match schedule. In an even game against MSV Duisburg the German 3rd division side won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Bakir on the half hour when he punished a mistake in Beerschot's build up. After a strong start from MSV Duisburg and a superb save from Mike Vanhamel our Mannekes claimed ball possession, created a handful of good scoring opportunities, but German goalkeeper Weinkauf covered shots from Suzuki, Domand Noubissi, who returned after months of injury problems.

One way traffic after the break with Beerschot in command and a good chance for Holzhauser who anticipated well on a bad back pass but couldn't put the ball in the net. In the last half hour Beerschot upped the tempo and combined well over the wings with Eleke, De Smet and Holzhauser. Dario Van den Buijs was denied  a deserved equaliser when his header hit the crossbar. Newcomer Okyere got the best chance ten minutes from the end after a good cross from Sanyang but shot wide.

Coach Peter Maes started with  Vanhamel, Van den Bergh, Van den Buijs, Dom, Holzhauser, Pietermaat, Sanusi, Konstantopoulos, De Smet, Suzuki and Noubissi. In the second half Okyere, Sanyang, Mboko, Halaimia, Belhadj, Coulibaly, Krekovic, Mukuna and Eleke came on.
