FEMI SERIKI JOINS BEERSCHOT ON LOAN

Today nineteen year old Mancunian Femi Seriki signed a one year 'on loan' contract at Beerschot. The wing back made his debut in the Premier League for Sheffield United last season. "A handful of Championship teams were interested to sign me but I prefer to come to Belgium and learn the trade here. I started with the U23 team of Sheffield United at the start of last season but was picked to play for the first team in May. That was a dream come true", Seriki says.

Femi Seriki started playing football at Bury FC, joined the Sheffield United Academy at the age of 16 and made his way into the U23 squad where Paul Heckingbottom was his coach. When he took over from Chris Wilder as manager of the Blades' first team he choose for Femi Seriki to step up to the first team squad too.

"Femi is a polite, well mannered and hard working young man", Paul Heckingbottom says. "Very quick and athletic too. He made a lot of progress last season and is still very eager to learn. A loan transfer to Beerschot seems perfect to me. I am very curious to see how he will be doing in the Belgian top flight and will be following up his progress. Good luck to him at Beerschot."
