GERMAN WEEK FOR BEERSCHOT

After three weeks of training in familiar cirumstances at our Training Centre in Wilrijk, Beerschot now continues its pre season preparation in Germany. On Monday a group of 27 players got on the coach for a 240 kilometres trip to Kamen. Our latest newcomer Thibault De Smet was one of them, together with three youngsters Amine Belhadj, Younes Bourabain and Keno Jacops, a trio that impressed during the recent friendlies.

"Hard work" is Beerschot's motto in Germany, with three training sessions a day and two games, against SC Verl and Duisburg. Just after arriving coach Peter Maes had already planned his first session with intensive passing and finishing exercises. Dario Van den Buijs excelled with a spectacular overhead kick.

Tuesday started with a 45 minute run, guided by physical coaches Pieter Jacobs and Stefan Winters who set the pace. After breakfast the first five-a-side tournament was won by Joren Dom, Wouter Biebauw, Blessing Eleke, Fré Frans and Abraham Okyere, who beat Ryan Sanusi's team in the very last minute. A gym session in the afternoon, with skip roping, cycling and running, rounded off the second day.

Today our Mannekes started the day with a video session as preparation for the friendly game against SV Verl, that kicked off at 2 pm.

Beerschot started the game with Biebauw, Halaimia, Van den Bergh, Konstantopoulos, De Smet, Pietermaat, Sanusi, Coulibaly, Sanyang, Krekovic and Eleke.
Blessing Eleke opened the score just after the break after a nice through ball from David Mukuna. Ten minutes from the end the German 3rd division side equalised but it was Beerschot that had the last word when David Mukuna scored the winning goal. A nice 2-1 victory.
