Beerschot have won their first (of ten) pre season friendly at provincial club Kontich with 5-0 after a very satisying performance in front of 400 fans. Newcomer Krekovic opened the the score, then Coulibaly, Placca and Holzhauser with two goals all put the ball in the net for a convincing victory.
Krekovic was Beerschot's best player of the first half with an early shot that was saved on the line, then scoring the opener and later on setting Coulibaly on his way to the 2-0 half time score.
Coach Peter Maes brought on eight new players for the second half in which Beerschot kept the tempo high. Youth Academy player Younes Bourabain impressed with some good moves but it was Rapha Holzhauser who scored twice, one of them from the penalty spot after Bourabain was brought down in the box. Also Fessou Placca, who returned from his loan spell at Lierse Kempenzonen, got his name on the scoresheet in the final quarter.
Beerschot fielded 22 players in this first friendly: Vanhamel, Lejoly, Van den Bergh, Frans, Dom, Van den Buijs, Holzhauser, Placca, Sanusi, Masangu, Coveliers, Krekovic, Halaimia, Coulibaly, Mukuna, Sebaoui, Belhadj, Khalifé, Bourabain, Van Steenwinkel, Radic and Vancamp.
