HEAVY DEFEAT IN FRIENDLY

Beerschot lost a friendly game at Westerlo on Sunday morning. Our Mannekes played a decent first half and created a good scoring opportunity early in the game but Thibo Baeten's shot was saved by Van Langendonck. Westerlo reacted with a drive from Dierckx and just before the break Dante Rigo saw his free kick palmed away by the home keeper after Ilias Sebaoui was fouled outside the box. Nil-nil was the half time score.

Coach Andreas Wieland sent on ten new players for the second half, five of them inexperienced youngsters, while Westerlo fielded their strongest squad. The home team then ran riot and scored not less than seven goals in the process.

Beerschot: Lathouwers, Van den Bergh, Meisl, Tolis, Nzita, Seydoux, Rigo, Koshi, Baeten, Verlinden, Sebaoui, Van Himbeeck, Quirynen, Alhassan, Sanusi, Degenaers, Cloots, La Morte, Weymans, Oethoeghanal, Moutha-Sebtaoui.
