MARCO WEYMANS SIGNS FOR BEERSCHOT

Marco Weymans, who started the preparation to the season as a test player, tonight signed  a contract for one year with an option for another season. The 24 year old wingback started his career at Beerschot in the Academy but left in 2012 to join the U16 of PSV Eindhoven in Holland. He then moved on to Cardiff in Wales and returned to Belgium in 2017 where he played at Tubeke for one and a half season, playing 35 games. When his contract expired he moved to Östersund in Sweden.

In January 2022 he came home to Belgium, and after a short trial period he now signed for Beerschot. "He convinced us during this trial period, so we offered him a contract", technical manager Sander Van Praet says.

"I am extremely happy and proud to be back at Beerschot", Weymans joined in. "I remember being a ball boy for the first team when I was young and I tried to watch as many games as I could. My sweetest memory? When goalkeeper Silvio Proto scored with that brilliant header against AA Gent late in the game, I was standing behind the goal. And I celebrated together with him running by the goalline. Unforgettable that was."

"Later I played a couple of games in the Olympic Stadium when we came here with Tubeke. But now I am really looking forward to play here in purple. I am sure that will be quite a feeling."
