Mauricio Lemos is Beerschot's latest new player. The 25 year Uruguayan leaves Turkish club Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig and signed an 'on loan' contract for Beerschot that expires at the end of this season.

The central defender started his professional career at Defensor in Uruguay and was transfered to Rubin Kazan in Russia as a 19 year old, who immediately loaned him out to UD Las Palmas in Spain. After 49 games in the Spanish first division and 26 in the "Segunda Division" he went to Italy for a spell at Sassuolo. And at the start of last season he signed a contract at Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig, where he finished third behind Besiktas and Galatasaray.

"Mauricio is an experienced central defender who will add power and quality in the heart of our defense", technical manager Sander Van Praet says. "He is fit and immediately deployable. I am convinced he will be an asset to our club."
