Beerschot is considering options for four key playersMen30 MarPlat, Haraguchi, Shinton and Gyamfi will remain under contract with Beerschot next season.Beerschot is fully committed to continuity for the coming season. The club’s management has officially exercised the options in the contracts of Brian Plat, Genki Haraguchi, Nick Shinton and Dennis Gyamfi. As a result, these four key players will remain with the Mannekes next season.
Continuity in defence and midfield Brian Plat (25), who joined from FC Volendam in July 2024, will remain with the club until June 2027. The Dutch defender has established himself as an undisputed mainstay this season. With his strength in the tackle and tactical awareness, he is a calming influence in defence, though he recently demonstrated his attacking prowess against RSCA Futures by scoring a memorable hat-trick. Plat has now made over 60 official appearances for the Purple & Whites. The option on Dennis Gyamfi (24) has also been exercised. The right-back, who previously came through the ranks at Leicester City, has proven himself this season as a reliable and physically strong presence on the flank. His speed and defensive discipline make him a key component of the coaching staff’s tactical plan.
In midfield, former Japan international Genki Haraguchi (34) continues to play a pivotal role. Since his arrival, the experienced midfielder has become one of the absolute crowd favourites at the Kiel. With his fabulous technique, boundless commitment and experience from the Bundesliga and the Japan national team, he brings much-needed composure and creativity to the side.
A rock in goal Between the posts, Beerschot has opted for certainty by extending Nick Shinton’s (24) contract. The goalkeeper is enjoying a rock-solid season and leads the statistics with the most clean sheets in the league. His reflexes and guidance of the defence have been decisive in several crucial matches this year, making an extended stay a logical next step. Sporting Director Murat Akin is delighted to have secured the services of the four players: “We are delighted to have exercised the options in the contracts of Brian, Genki, Nick and Dennis. These four players form the backbone of our current squad and have each, in their own way, proven their worth to Beerschot. Retaining this quality and experience is essential for the continued growth of our club and the stability of the first team.” Beerschot looks to the future with confidence with these key players on board.
