The recent international break produced some positive results for several players. Arnold Vula was the standout performer. The forward made two appearances for Uganda and scored once, with his goal proving particularly valuable in the race for qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Vula featured against both Libya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). Against Libya, he became the match-winner by scoring the only goal of the game. Uganda secured a 1-0 victory and picked up three crucial points in the qualification campaign.
Uganda also managed to earn a result against DR Congo, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Following a strong international break, Uganda currently sits at the top of the group. With his decisive goal against Libya, Vula played an important role in putting his country in a strong position.
Anas Haj Mohamed also saw minutes during the international break. The Tunisian featured twice for Tunisia U23 against Benin U23. In the first leg, played in Tunisia, Haj Mohamed started the match. Tunisia secured a convincing 2-0 victory. In the return leg in Benin, Haj Mohamed came on as a substitute. Tunisia lost the game 1-0. Haj Mohamed did not score during the international break.
Siviwe Magdigidi also made two appearances for South Africa U23. His team faced Algeria U23 both at home and away. In the first match, South Africa U23 recorded an impressive 3-1 victory in front of their home supporters. The return leg ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning Magdigidi's side remained unbeaten against Algeria. Magdigidi featured in both matches but did not find the back of the net. Nevertheless, his minutes on the pitch contributed to two strong results for South Africa U23.
For Vula in particular, it was a highly successful international break. With two appearances, one goal and, most importantly, the decisive winner against Libya, he played a direct role in putting Uganda in a strong position in the AFCON qualification campaign.
