Match Preview: KAS Eupen – Beerschot.Men24 OctTomorrow, our Mannekes travel to the East Cantons for the away fixture against KAS Eupen. With the memorable cup night still fresh in our minds, we look ahead to this important clash with our young attacking talentAnas Haj Mohamed. Our forward is looking ahead to the upcoming match with confidence. Following his outstanding performance in the cup tie against RSC Anderlecht, the 21-year-old youth international is hungrier than ever. Despite the difference in stature between a top club like Anderlecht and a league fixture away at KAS Eupen, Haj Mohamed remains level-headed. “For me, it really makes no difference who we play against,” he states firmly. “Whether we're facing Anderlecht in the cup or playing away at Eupen in the league, our preparation, my focus and our desire to win remain exactly the same. We wear the same shirt in every match and fight for the same goal.”
Mentally strong away from home
KAS Eupen will be the next serious test on the road. With the home side just three points behind Beerschot and still having a game in hand, Beerschot faces a difficult challenge. Haj Mohamed knows that his team will need to be switched on from the very first second. “Eupen are a tough team who can make life difficult for any opponent on their home turf. We'll need to be sharp from the start and aggressive in the challenges if we want to get a good result there.” The attacking standout is already looking forward to the atmosphere in the away end. “Away games always have something special about them. Our fans travel everywhere with us and make themselves heard throughout the match. You can really feel their support on the pitch. We also picked up a lot of points away from home last season. That shows that we travel as one united team, no matter where in Belgium we have to play.”
Fighting for our fans
For Haj Mohamed and the squad, the focus is firmly on tomorrow's game. “In the league, we've started matches a little too slowly on too many occasions. That wasn't the case against Anderlecht last weekend. We were ready from the very first minute and even created a big chance in the opening two minutes. “It's up to us to deliver from the start again, get our supporters behind us and build on the performances we've put in over the past few matches. We're heading to Eupen with confidence and will do everything we can to bring home a good result. At the same time, we know Eupen have a lot of quality. I expect an entertaining game between two teams who like to play good football,” the Tunisian concludes.
