In the starting line-up, newcomer Genki Haraguchi took his place in midfield. The match began cautiously, with Anderlecht’s youngsters settling into their rhythm first. That also led to the first real chance of the game: Flies saw his free kick crash against the post.
After the opening quarter-hour, Beerschot tried to take more control of the game, but didn’t create any major chances. Just over 20 minutes in, however, they began to show some danger. A shot from Van la Parra was kept out by the goalkeeper, who a little later was helped by his post again when Mbe Soh’s header came close. At halftime, the score remained 0-0.
After the break, we saw a very different Beerschot. Pushed forward by their supporters, they kept the Futures pinned back and hardly gave them any room. Eventually, it was Guendouz who broke the deadlock with 20 minutes to play. Claes kept a clear view inside the box and Guendouz finished comfortably after some fine work. RSCA Futures were struggling more and more physically, while Beerschot maintained control. A second goal by Vula was ruled out for offside, but shortly after, the match was sealed. Once again Guendouz was involved, setting up Van la Parra with a fine assist, and he fired in the 0-2.
Thanks to this victory, Beerschot remain unbeaten after five matchdays and return to ’t Kiel with three points, where they will host Francs Borains next Saturday.
A big thank you to all our loyal supporters, who once again stood by the club through wind and rain. Afterwards, we learned that a few supporters had been stung by hornets. The club will of course closely monitor their situation, and we wish them a speedy recovery.
