Charleroi also made their presence felt early on, but attempts from Dailly and Florica posed no problems for Shinton.
After fifteen minutes, Van Eenoo turned cleverly in midfield and served Vula with a delightful deep pass. His shot was blocked, but three minutes later he scored. Vula combined beautifully with Guendouz, the ball ended up on the right with Dagba, who painted a perfect cross onto the head of our striker: 0-1.
Charleroi tried to threaten again after 25 minutes. Sarkic came face to face with Shinton, but our goalkeeper kept his net clean. Moments later, Beerschot looked set to double their lead. Claes found Vula, who looked set to score his second of the afternoon, but the referee blew for a controversial offside. As a result, the score remained 0-1 at half-time.
Shortly after the break, Beerschot suffered a serious setback: Marco Weymans had to leave the field injured. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, but it did not look good. Substitute Vargas immediately made his presence felt: on the hour mark, he coolly finished off a quick breakaway and made it 0-2.
The match seemed to be over, but ten minutes before the end, Ndedi brought the tension back. A corner from Kis hung in the air and eventually fell at his feet at the far post: 1-2. However, Beerschot did not get into any more trouble and so our Mannekes deservedly took the three points back to the Kiel.
