Coach Messoudi brought Emre Uzun into the starting line-up for the first time. Encouraged by the crowd, Beerschot started the match eagerly, although it took until the 23rd minute for the first real goal threat. Vula cut himself free nicely in the box, but shot straight at goalkeeper De Schrevel. Beerschot dominated until that moment, but four minutes later, the goal came at the other end. Fall, La Louvière's tall Senegalese player, controlled the ball perfectly with his right foot and volleyed it past Shinton with his left. La Louvière took the lead against the run of play.
Beerschot started the second half with the same eleven players and refused to give up. On the hour mark, Van la Parra tried to curl the ball into the far corner, but his attempt went just wide. With fifteen minutes to go, La Louvière were reduced to ten men after a red card. Beerschot had already made a few substitutions and for a moment it looked like Wright-Phillips would pull one back, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
The equaliser finally came, albeit late. In the 94th minute, Vula scored with a fine header, giving the Mannekes five minutes of hope. But despite the pressure, Beerschot could not score again against a stubborn La Louvière. The elimination from the cup is now a fact and the last remaining non-first division team is out of the Croky Cup.
Now all focus is on the league. On Saturday, our Mannekes travel to Roeselare for the clash with Club NXT.
