25 year old Marco Weymans will stay at Beerschot for another year after our club activated the 1-year option in his contract this week. The left footed defender who was a member of the Youth Academy as a youngster played in 22 games this season, scoring one goal and contributed with three assists.
"I am very happy I can stay at Beerschot also next year. Returning to my home town club at the beginning of this season felt like coming home. I grew up in the Kiel district and now live in Wilrijk, close to my family", Weymans says.
"Keeping Marco for another year is important for our continuity plans", technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi added. "Marco played an important role in our team this season, not always as a starter but he featured in 35% of our games. He is young and a boy from Antwerp, and fits perfectly in Beerschot's phylosophy."
