STRIKER SEKOU DIAWARA SIGNS FOR BEERSCHOT

Today striker Sekou Diawara signed a contract for Beerschot until the end of the season. The 19 year old Belgian joins from Italian Serie A team Udinese on loan.

"I like Beerschot's accommodation", Diawara said when he stepped through the main entrance of the Olympic Stadium Thursday lunchtime. "Crazy really I haven't been here before because I lived round the corner with my father for three years when I played for Racing Genk. My dad still lives here, so I will be seeing him on a more regular basis the next couple of months."

Born in Guinee, growing up in the city of Antwerp, a short stop at Deinze and then to Udinese in Italy: thet's Sekou Diawara in a nutshell. "I consider 'Antwerpen' as my home town but also lived in Deinze when I was at AA Gent, and in Genk when I moved to Racing Genk. Last year I could sign for Udinese, and grabbed that opportunity with both hands."

"Playing as much as I can and enjoying myself is my two-in-one ambition here at Beerschpt", the 19 year old continues. "I trained a lot at Udinese without playing matches for the first team... but feattured in the Primavera-competition."

"We are happy with this on loan transfer of Sekou Diawara", technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi picks in. "He knows 1B as he played in this league before with Racing Genk. He is fast, skillfull and has good heading abilities. On top of that he is fit and immediately deployable."
