TWO WINS ON SATURDAY FOR BEERSCHOT

A succesful Saturday for Beerschot with two wins in as many friendly games. In the morning Andreas Wieland's squad beat Westerlo 3-2 while in the evening our Mannekes were stronger than provincial team RVC Hoboken.

Against Division 1A side Westerlo it was Thibo Baeten who equalidsed after the home team had opened the score early in the game. Beerschot were the better team throughout and created the better scoring opportunities. Vaca scored Beerschot's second with a low shot from outside the box. But Westerlo's reaction came one minute later with a penalty from Bernat Two-two at half time.

After the break Alhassan was sent off for a dangerous tackle after which Westerlo decided to take one player off. Nice gesture. Beerschot kept dominating the game and in the dying minutes Vaca curled a free kick in the top corner to give Beerschot a well deserved victory.

Beerschot's team: Vanhamel, Matthys, Quirynen, Baeten, Alhassan, Vaca, Shankland, Sanusi, Koshi, Weymans and Konstantopoulos.

Friendly game number two against our neighbours from Hoboken also resulted in a victory. Coach Andreas Wieland fielded a young team. Beerschot lead 2-0 at half time with goals from Cloots and Verlinden. Early in the second half Hoboken got a goal back, but then Beerschot took control again. La Morte took two penalties, missed the first and converted the second one. A bit later he pounced again from an assist from El Hajaoui. Hoboken came back to 4-2 with a penalty. The final score.

Beerschot' team: Lathouwers, Frans, Verlinden, Okyere, Goossens, Kaissi, Van Himbeeck, Van Steenwinckel, Cloots, Sqalli, La Morte, Santos, De Stobbeleir, ElHajaoui, Muldermans and Hosten.
