ANOTHER BEERSCHOT WIN: 2-1 AGAINST LOMMEL

Beerschot have also won their second friendly  at the "Visputten" in Hoboken.  After their 2-0 victory against Waasland Beveren four days earlier Peter Maes' XI were the stronger team in their encounter with Lommel SK. 2-1 the score was on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Rapha Holzhauser and Thibault De Smet and a late consolation goal from the visitors.

Beerschot started well and scored after just seven minutes when Holzhauser was fouled by Lommel goalkeeper De Bussere and scored from the spot. Also in the opening stages Coulibaly and Holzhauser created further goalscoring opportunities but were denied by the Lommel number one, who later saved shots from Dom and in a one-against-one with Holzhauser. Our defense stood firm and Mike Vanhamel could have easily taken a day off in the first half that was totally dominated by our Mannekes.

In a more even second half Mukuna had an opportunity to double the margin for Beerschot but shot wide, while Vanhamel saved brilliantly after a nice and fast Lommel combination. Finally it was Thibault De Smet who scored the 2-0 when he converted a good cross from Holzhauser at the far post. His forst goal in our purple and white colours.

Peter Maes brought on seven new players in the 70th minute from which Abdoulie Sanyang excelled with good infiltrations from the right wing and two shots. Without success however. Lommel threatened a couple of times and scored a well deserved consolation goal when our defense were caught out too easily.

Beerschot kept looking to score a third and got a golden chance to do so when Sanyang was fouled in the box and the ref pointed to the spot again. Blessing Eleke's penalty however was too soft to beat Lommel's substitute goalie Lambrix. Final score 2-1.

Beerschot started with Vanhamel, Dom, Van den Bergh, Belhadj, De Smet, Pietermaat, Coulibaly, Holzhauser, Mukuna, Suzuki and Krekovic. After the break coach Peter Maes gave playing minutes to Van den Buijs, Bourabain, Halaimia, Konstantopoulos, Sanyang, Eleke and Okyere.
