ANOTHER INCOMING TRANSFER: THIBAUD VERLINDEN
Beerschot again strenghtened his squad for the 2022-2023 season. Today 22 year old Thibaud Verlinden signed a contract until June 2024, with an option for one exrra year. Thibaud is the son of ex-international Dany Verlinden and joins the club on a free transfer from Slovakian club DAC.
Thibaud Verlinden played in the Youth Academies of Club Brugge and Standard and was picked up by Stoke City in 2015 where he made the first team after starrjng in the Potters' youth categories. He then went on loan to FC Sankt Pauli Hamburg in Germany and Bolton Wanderers. In January 2021 he joined Dutch club Fortuna Sittard and moved on six months later to DAC in the Slovakian top division. There he declined an offer for a new contract and opted for Beerschot instead.
Technical manager Sander Van Praet calls Verlinden's move to Beerschot "a well-considered choice". "He is very eager to prove himself in Belgium. With his ability to go forward, shots at goal, good acceleration and actions between the lines he will be an important asset to our first team squad at Beerschot".
"I like setting up combinations from my position on the wing, working hard and getting involved in the actions with my team mates", Thibaud Verlinden says. "I didn't have to think twice to sign a contract here at Beerschot after I had a couple of good talks with both Mr. Van Praet and the head coach. At this moment Beerschot seems to be the ideal club to give my career a new impulse. The feeling is alright and I will be closer to my family and friends. Two bonuses."
