His name is Meisl. Luca Meisl. And he is Beerschot's latest newcomer. The 23 year old Austrian defender played more than 100 games in the Austrian top divisions and signed a contract until June 2024 with an option for an extra year.
Meisl came through the Salzburg Academy, played two games for the first team and then went on loan to Sankt Pölten and SV Ried. "He was on Beerschot's radar for a while", technical manager Sander Van Praet says. "Coach Andreas Wieland immediately agreed to sign him. He was brought up the Red Bull Salzburg way which will make his adaption easy."
'That's right", Luca Meisl smiles. "Beerschot will play exactly the same sort of football as I am used to. I have never been in Belgium before but I already know one of my teammates. During the Youth European Championships both Austria and Belgium shared the same hotel, and it was there that I met Thibaud Verlinden."
"I am really looking forward to get started at Beerschot. I know the club has a great tradition and the fans are very fanatical. So signing for the club was a no brainer really."
Luca Meisl has already joined the Beerschot squad at their training camp in Garderen in Holland.
