Beerschot – Club NXT: 3-0
Convincing display and a more than deserved win for Beerschot on Sunday afternoon. Verlinden, Reyners and Keita scored the all important goals and at the other end Matijas made sure the three points stayed in the Olympic Stadium after producing three brilliant saves.
Despite dominating the game from the very first minute both Keita and Reyners missed some good opportunities to open the scoreline. It was Club NXT that came close but Matijas denied Sabe while Matthys and the goalpost saved the rebound. It was a much needed wake up call and Verlinded reacted immediately with a low shot in the far corner that left Shinton no chance.
The visitors combined well and threatened but Matijas was unbeatable. Just afyer the hour it was Beerschot that doubled that doubled their advantage with Reyners squeezing the ball home at the far post.. His ninth of the season.
After the break Keita scored Beerschot's third of the afternoon and put the game beyond Club NXT. Coach Dirk Kuyt then sent on newcomer Diawara for his debut. The 19 year old striker almost immediately got a golden opportunity to score in his first appearance in purple and white but Shinton saved his shot. Three-nil was the final score, Beerschot recorded its first win of 2024 and stays on top of the table.
