Beerschot – Club Brugge: 0-6
Beerschot have been eliminated from the Croky Cup by a superior Club Brugge and due to an overload of individual mistakes in defence. The visitors gave a lesson in efficiency in the box and showed their brilliance and class after a quick opening goal to finally score half a dozen of goals.
In a dramatic first five minutes Konstantopoulos lost the ball with Thiago punishing with an unstoppable shot in the short corner. Minutes later Reyners came close to an equaliser with a sweet move and a good drive but Mignolet's save was superb. Halfway the first half Beerschot shot themselves in the foot again when a back pass from Cagro was intercepted, leaving Skov Olsen to score the easiest goal of his career. Game over.
Club Brugge then ran riot with three goals in quick concession: first Odoi headed home, then Vetlesen finished a great combination and finally Skov Olsen with a screamer in the top corner; a contender for Goal of the Year. 0-5 was the score at half time. Sanusi threatened with a free kick for a consolation goal but his ball came off the crossbar.
Club Brugge also overpowered us after the break by immediately taking advantage from another mistake in the Beerschot defence when a back pass was intercepted again and Vetlesen unpacking the present by slotting home. Twenty minutes from the end Matijas denied Barbera from a seventh goal with a brilliant save.
