Jari Hellemans is Beerschots new esporter

With Beerschot back in Division 1A our club will also be participating in the ePro League. Jari Hellemans will be our representative in the online competition between all Pro League Teams. His nickname is Capi_Torres13. Esports e-teamleader Arne Miechielssens is his companion.

Esports has been a hype for many years now. The last couple of months Beerschot has been following up all new developments and created its project that will kick off today.

It is our aim to grow gradually by opting for a basic but strong project with achievable goals. We hope to stand our ground in the first season and then gradually become a valuable player in the Belgian esport scene. In a few years’ time we aim to play a major role globally.

We will be focusing on FIFA first and then broaden our horizon in the games world. Two important issues in our development and search for talent are our individuality and the extension of our DNA in the project. That’s why we opted for Jari Hellemans, who is a Beerschot fan, with a big heart for the club and a very talented player on top. He will prove himself as a serious challenger, and will be assisted by our esport e-team leader Arne Michielssens.

“By launching this project we take our community work to its next level”, says marketing manager Finn Van der Kaa. “We will be bringing relevant content to our supporter from 6 to 30 years old and want to involve them in the Beerschot family in an alternative way. It also gives us the opportunity to experiment with new forms of content, become a player on the commercial market and develop income.”

Jari Hellemans – Pro Player
Born in Antwerpen and a big fan of Beerschot. A regular in the Olympic Stadium at our league games the last couple of seasons. He convinced us with his enthusiasm and guts. Impressed in the EA Fut Weekend Leagues.

“I am relatively new in the esport world, and in between studying I train extremely hard to become a better player. It is important to challenge the better players, and that is what I do. During the Weekend League you meet up with strong opposition. That’s how you can improve.”

Arne Miechielssens – Esports e-team leader
A young Beerschot supporter who has become a die hard fan after his dad took him to the Olympic Stadium at a very young age. He will develop the game strategy and shape up the “sporting project” in combination with the media and marketing department of our club. Arne is a very experienced player who developed leading esport projects from Benelux when he was at KV Kortrijk last season.

“Gaming has become the number one pastime and hobby during the last 20 years. Esports has been and still is my favourite thing. And I want to share my knowledge and experience to lift Beerschot to a higher level. The club’s social media are in the top five in Belgium at the moment And we want to bring even more added value by appealing a new audience. I look forward to working on this fantastic project.”
