Kiel United

From Saturday 31st October our Olympic Stadium will also be the prestigious decor of an an “Open Air Museum”. On the outside of two of our stands 20 large photos of sporting “Kielenaars” will be on show. In the near future action photos from some of our Youth Academy players and A-team stars will be added. As part of the art project “Kiel United”; ‘het Kiel’ being the suburb of the city of Antwerpen where the Olympic Stadium is situated.

The works of art from 5 artists will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games that were held in 1920 in the Beerschot Stadium. It goes without saying that in the year 2020 Beerschot wants to be the heart of all Olympic projects, just like they were a century ago.

Furthermore Beerschot will be engaging strongly in community work in its neighbourhood by helping and uniting entrepreneurs, social partners, social and sporting teams and above all the inhabitants of this vibrant community. Therefore we will be supporting and strengthening the “Kiel United” project of the city of Antwerpen. We would like to get to know and discover the people behind the photos. Their respective stories will be the platform for common interest and the ‘Kiel” community work the coming years.

Photos will be rotating and new ones will be added on a regular base until May 2021. In that period of time 65 sporting heroes from ‘het Kiel’ will be shown on stands 3 and 4; quite a few of them stars from the rich and glamorous history of our football club. The “Open Air Museum” is visible from both the Atletenstraat and the Stadionstraat.
