NICE AND EASY CUP WIN

KNOKKE - BEERSCHOT  0 - 4

Beerschot easily and deservedly qualified for the next round of the Belgian FA Cup at the seaside town of Knokke. The home team never threatened so our Mannekes  had no problems to translate their superiority in a nice four-nil win with entertaining and attacking football that promises for the future.

Coach Andreas Wieland changed his team in five positions compared to last Sunday's win at Virton: Fré Frans, Mardichée Nzita, Ibrahim Alhassan, Thibaud Verlinden and Thibo Baeten were in the starting line up. The latter responded perfectly by scoring after just seven minutes when he sliced the ball in after a low cross from Seydoux. Matthys came close to a second Beerschot goal but his free kick zoomed narrrowly over, while Dhoest saved his secçond shot in the low corner.

Beerschot made it a rout in the second half with three more goals. First captain Sanusi with a low drive, then our Icelandic striker Thorisson with a well taken goal and finally Nzita. In the dying minutes goalkeer Bill Lathouwers kept a clean sheet by saving a belter from Sula. The only lowpoint of the afternoon was a second yellow card and an early shower for Nzita
