TWO YEAR CONTRACT FOR BENJAMIN PAUWELS

Striker Benjamin Pauwels signed a two year contract on Tuesday afternoon. The 18 year old was on trial the last two weeks an impressed both on the training field and in the friendly games against FC Den Bosch, KVC Wilrijk and Fortuna Sittard.

"I am extremely happy that the training staff gave me the opportunity to prove myself and showed faith in me by offering me a contract. Last season I was at Jong AA Gent. This transfer to Beerschot is the next step up for me. It will be a great experience to play in the Challenger Pro League now", Benji says. "Playing for Jong AA Gent has given me confidence and experience, both physically and mentally. It helped me during my trial period at Beerschot."

The 18 year old from Duinbergen felt immediately at ease at Beerschot. "Everybody at the club made me feel welcome which helped immensely to settle in. The last two games in the Olympic Stadium made a great impression, especially the Memorial Marc Steenackers game against Fortuna Sittard, in front of the Beerschot supporters."

"We believe Benji has a lot of progression in him", technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi thinks. "He showed some promising moves during his trial period and worked very hard during the training sessions, which made us decide to offer him a contract until June 2005."
